4 teens blamed for $37,500 in damage at Michigan golf course

Authorities say four teenagers are to blame for a joyride at a golf course in western Michigan that caused about $37,500 in damage.

The Grand Rapids Press reports the teens, ages 17 to 19, are accused of using nearly two dozen golf carts as bumper cars, tearing up grass and damaging several carts beyond repair. It happened in October at Cedar Chase Golf Club in Kent County.

Officials say one of the four bragged about it at school. Two of them admitted their roles this week with guilty pleas to malicious destruction of property charges. In a deal with prosecutors, they'll pay restitution and can eventually clear their records.

The teens told investigators they used screwdrivers to start the golf carts, which were parked outside next to the clubhouse.
