Detroit university prepares for accreditation process

wiki commons

A university in Detroit is readying itself for an accreditation process that would assure the quality of the school.

The Detroit News reports that Wayne State University will be evaluated by the Higher Learning Commission this week, and is one of five Michigan universities receiving the evaluation this month. Two Michigan colleges will also receive the evaluation.

The Higher Learning Commission is an accrediting body made up of academics. This will be the first time the team is evaluating Wayne State since its review of its accreditation criteria in 2009.

Wayne State has been preparing for the evaluation, performed every 10 years, since 2013.

Sandra Yee, the university's Higher Learning Commission work group co-chair, says Wayne State is "well-prepared" for the accreditation process.
