After a series of delays a new hotel is coming to Grand Rapids’ North Monroe District. Construction of a seven-story Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel will begin Tuesday with the demolition of a building at the corner of Bond Avenue and Newberry in downtown Grand Rapids.

West Michigan-based developer and operator, Suburban Inns, explains when the hotel is finished at 710 Monroe Avenue NW, it will be the first upscale all-suites hotel located downtown.

It will feature 246 suites, many with balcony views of the Grand River or the city skyline. The new Embassy Suites will feature an indoor pool that will also overlook the river, a sports bar and grill, spas, banquet facility and meeting rooms.

After several months spent working on the underground substructure, construction can move forward. The hotel is scheduled to open during the summer of 2019.
