A monthly Muskegon initiative brings cops, community and coffee to your local café.

The Muskegon Police Department launched the monthly meet-ups in February, which are held at various locations across the city.

Officials say it’s an informal way to meet and connect with local officers, ask questions or just get a cup of joe.

This month’s ‘Conversation and Coffee with Your Cops’ is held Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lakeside Café on West Laketon Avenue.

Multiple departments across west Michigan run similar gatherings connecting cops with the community, including Norton Shores police and the Grand Rapids Police Department.

The GRPD also hosts a Thursday evening community meet-up from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the city's Creston Market.
