Fruit processing, storage facility planned for Michigan

Officials say a fruit processing and cold storage facility could bring up to 200 jobs to southwestern Michigan.

The Michigan Blueberry Growers Association in 2012 bought 42 acres in South Haven. The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph reports the group, now called MBG Marketing, recently secured a utility incentive agreement worth up to $150,000.

The newspaper say MBG Mark

eting plans to sell part of the property and MBG, which does business as Naturipe, would have a processing facility.

No formal plans have yet been submitted to the city. Initial plans called for 150,000 square feet of processing space for MBG Marketing and another business.
