Seasonal parking restrictions are back in effect in Grand Rapids.

The Odd/Even Parking Ordinance for certain Grand Rapids streets began on Sunday.

It means off-street overnight parking rotates by day on streets marked by the odd/even parking signs.

From 1 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily, vehicles need to park on the even-numbered side of the street on even days, and the odd-numbered side of the street on odd days.

Parking on those streets is open on both sides from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily.

City officials say the restrictions allow street sweepers and snow plows access to streets, curbs and gutters - to clear leaves and debris during the fall, and better remove snow from roads during snowfall.

Enforcement includes a $20 parking violation fine.

The restrictions are in effect until April 1.
