The Grand Rapids Police Department are investigating whether former Assistant Kent County Prosecutor Joshua Kuiper was intoxicated during a traffic accident on November 19th, last year.

The owner of a parked car was treated for non-life threatening injuries after his vehicle was struck. Kuiper was cited for wrong way driving. The GRPD’s has conducted an ongoing investigation to determine if Kuiper has been given preferential treatment because of his position.

Three of their employees, including a Lieutenant, a Sergeant, and an officer, have been placed on administrative leave with pay. The Grand Rapids Police Department has asked the Michigan State Police to hold an investigation to determine any potential criminality for the involved officers.

Additional information will not be released until the conclusion of the investigation.
