Judge to Nassar: "I just signed your death warrant"

After a seven-day hearing that brought more than 150 victims or their families to court, disgraced Michigan Sports Doctor Larry Nassar was sentenced to 40-175 years in prison. Prior to his sentencing, Nassar apologized for the pain he caused.

“An acceptable apology is impossible to write or convey, of how sorry I am, for what has occurred," Nassar said. "I will carry your words with me for the rest of my days.”

However, Judge Rosemarie Aquilina didn’t buy Nassar’s apology, as she read aloud from a letter Nassar had written prior to the sentencing. The letter stated, "Hell hath no fury than a woman scorned" and said that "stories are being fabricated" by victims.

With that, the judge told Nassar he would die behind bars.

“Sir I am giving you 175 years, which is 2100 months. I just signed your death warrant," Aquilina said. "I find that you don’t get it. You are a danger and remain a danger. I am a judge who believes in life and rehabilitation when rehabilitation is possible. I don’t find that is possible with you.”

A Michigan prosecutor called sports doctor Larry Nassar "possibly the most prolific serial child sex abuser in history." As Nassar was lead out, the courtroom erupted in applause.
