Metro Health and U of M Health System explore merger

Metro Health

Wyoming’s Metro Health Corporation is determined to join the University of Michigan Health System.

The letter of intent has been signed between Metro Health and the University of Michigan Health System.

That means the hospitals can begin taking a closer look at each other’s business operations and negotiate a deal that would merge the two systems.

A deal would expand U of M’s reach into west Michigan. That would include its medical research and what it calls cutting-edge health care to the region.

Metro Health brings a network of nurses and doctors into the fold.

Michael Faas, president of Metro Health, explains the hospital “can build on our (its) existing expertise and provide our (its) patients and community with enhanced access to specialized health care services, scientific discovery and advanced technology.”
