A Michigan center to enhance the understanding and treatment of Alzheimer's disease is getting $9 million in federal funding.
The University of Michigan says Monday the money over the next five years is from the National Institutes of Health.
The effort brings together researchers, clinicians and others from the University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Wayne State University.
Those involved say the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Core Center will support a wide range of studies on Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
The Michigan ADCC will be one of nearly 30 NIH-funded Alzheimer's disease centers across the nation.
With the involvement of three research universities, the Michigan center will seek to extend its reach statewide.
