Michigan wraps up trade trip to India, seeks investment

domemagazine.com

Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley is wrapping up a weeklong trade trip to India, where he's highlighting investment and partnership opportunities.

Calley's office says in a statement Friday that he's emphasizing Michigan's global role in automotive manufacturing and technology. He's been meeting with representatives of companies and is stressing the "competitive operating environment" in Michigan.

Calley earlier this week toured a General Motors Co. plant and met with Indian suppliers for the automaker to highlight Michigan as a place for their North American operations. He also participated in the Michigan-Maharashtra Global Business Summit.

Five Michigan companies accompanied Calley on the trip.

The India mission is Calley's fifth since taking office in 2011. He previously led trips to Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and the Netherlands.
