Motorist pleads guilty in crash that killed Michigan boy

A motorist who was driving without a valid license has pleaded guilty in connection with a crash that killed a 4-year-old western Michigan boy.

The Grand Rapids Press reports 70-year-old Susan Rieckman entered the plea Thursday to driving with a license suspended, revoked or denied causing death in the crash that killed Talos Bills.

The Cedar Springs woman had said she didn't see him.

Records say prosecutors are recommending capping Rieckman's sentence at a year in jail and five years of probation.

A sentencing date wasn't set.

Talos was struck by a pickup Sept. 14 while crossing a road on his scooter in downtown Greenville, northeast of Grand Rapids.

His teenage cousin was hit and suffered minor injuries.

They were returning home after buying doughnuts at a gas station.
