Two proposed pilot programs would make Rapid transit tickets more cost-effective for certain agencies and students.
If approved, the proposals create lower-cost options for non-profits serving homeless or low-income clients, and semester bus passes for students and staff at Grand Rapids Community College.
The move for reduced-cost fares is meant to lessen the financial burden for agencies that purchase rides for clients, and follows across-the-board increases approved by Rapid leadership earlier this year.
It includes single-trip tickets priced at $1.35 peach, with set limits of how many can be sold.
Officials say the GRCC pass is a way to test demand for students, faculty and staff using or interested in regular use of the Rapid bus line.
Passes would cost $130 per semester and be sold through the college.
Both items are proposed for one-year trial periods, and are up for review at Wednesday's board meeting.
