A mix of snow and rain across much of Michigan is causing hazardous driving conditions and bringing the threat of flooding in places. Snow fell Thursday morning across a wide swath of the Lower Peninsula, including the Lansing and Kalamazoo areas. Part of U.S. highway 131 in Kalamazoo County reopened to traffic after being shut when vehicles got stuck in snow.

High winds were expected to cause waves to build to 14 to 18 feet along Lake Michigan, raising the possibility of flooding. On the eastern side of the state, the National Weather Service issued a flood warning for several rivers. Atr Wenonah Park in Bay City waves crashed over the seawall. The city is located along Saginaw Bay, which is part of Lake Huron.
