A southwestern Michigan city has reached a settlement with a man who said officers mistreated him during a 2013 traffic stop.
WOOD-TV reports South Haven officials have agreed to pay Michael Kinney $15,000 in exchange for the federal lawsuit being dropped.
Kinney sued police last year in Grand Rapids federal court.
He says officers put him in a choke hold after forcing his vehicle into a ditch.
Kinney says he's diabetic and was experiencing low blood sugar. He says he had a crushed windpipe and damage to his vocal cords.
Kinney was arrested for fleeing and eluding but wasn't formally charged.
The city's police chief defended the actions of officers during the traffic stop.
South Haven didn't admit to any liability in the case.
