State needs a little more time to release official rules on medical marijuana licenses

A state department is taking a little longer to release medical marijuana licensing rules.

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has been working on these rules for a few months now. They’ll be used when the application process opens in December. But the rules could change at some point down the road if they don’t have the effect the department wants.

The department has already given residents a sneak peek at potential rules. They include a 6-thousand dollar application fee. The department also said it intends to let people grow, process and sell medical marijuana in the same facility.

The department originally planned to release the rules before Thanksgiving. It now plans to have the rules out next week.
