Study: Michigan among least affected by government shutdown

Wikipedia

Good news for Michigan residents—the government shutdown won’t have that much of an impact on the state. That’s according to a study released Monday by WalletHub.com. The financial services website’s “2018 Government Shutdown Report: Most & Least Affected States” found that Michigan is the second-least affected by the shutdown, just behind neighboring Minnesota.

To determine which states the government shutdown would hit the hardest, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across six key metrics. Those range from each state’s share of federal jobs and contracts to the percentage of kids covered by the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

Meanwhile the places hurt most by the shutdown are the three with the largest percentage of federal workers: Washington, D.C.; Maryland and Virginia.
