The second annual Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit brought hundreds of voices together on Friday as active participants in shaping the city’s future.

Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss says while the downtown is often the focal point, neighborhoods – and their residents – are the true heart of the city.

"Your voice matters. I think that’s the big message today – your voice matters. We want you to have an opportunity to give input on what we need to do to move forward."

Bliss tells attendees a city is only as strong as its communities, and knowing local needs are essential to good policy.

Summit speakers and panel discussions continued throughout the day, with a focus on inclusion and community building.
