Millions of state dollars are going to three school districts in Michigan.
Marshall, Detroit Public Schools Community District, and Innocademy in Zeeland are all getting a portion of 3 million dollars. The money is to help the schools with consolidations and mergers in their districts.
For example, Marshall Public Schools will use 2-point-5 million to cover the costs from absorbing the Albion school district last July.
Bill DiSessa is a spokesperson for the Michigan Department of Education.
“The grants basically help defray the costs and increase efficiencies in these districts.”
Detroit will use the money for transition costs with annexing the Education Achievement Authority. Innocademy will annex the Innocademy Allegan Campus.
