An annual art competition in Grand Rapids is introducing a new pavilion for Upper Peninsula artists at this year's event.

The Daily Press reports that a press conference about the U.P. Pavilion at ArtPrize was held Wednesday at the Bonifas Fine Arts Center in Escanaba.

ArtPrize is a multi-day event in downtown Grand Rapids featuring work from artists around the world on public display throughout the area.

More than 25 artists from the Upper Peninsula will have their works exhibited this year at the U.P. Pavilion.

Local officials hope the pavilion will provide exposure for the artists and promote art-related tourism in the Upper Peninsula.

The 8th annual ArtPrize will run from Sept. 21 to Oct. 9.
