A woman says her family kept a Grand Rapids police officer's body camera for evidence of unfair treatment after she and three others were arrested at her mother's 74th birthday party.

Eunique Allen says they "went to jail for nothing." WOOD-TV reports  the family says the situation Saturday night should have ended with a request to turn down music. They say they want charges dropped.

Police say in a statement the "situation deteriorated" as they tried to find out who was responsible for the party, leading to arrests. The department says one of the people involved "became actively resistant" and the officer's body camera was knocked off.

Police say the camera was thrown into another yard before someone took it. The body camera was later returned to police.
