A mid-Michigan woman who authorities say embezzled more than $400,000 from her disabled 9-year-old son's estate faces prison after entering a plea to resolve the case. The Lansing State Journal reports 32-year-old Kasie Pruden-Rivera of Eaton County is scheduled for sentencing June 28 after pleading no contest to one count of embezzling more than $100,000.

The plea isn't an admission of guilt, but is treated as such for sentencing. Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd says based on a lack of previous convictions her sentencing guidelines will likely top out at 20 months.

Two family members have been sentenced to prison for a scheme to pay bribes for a medical marijuana dispensary in a Detroit suburb.

The case involved officials in Garden City, who notified federal investigators when they were approached in 2016.

Mike Baydoun was sentenced to 18 months in prison Tuesday, while nephew Jalal Baydoun was given a year and a day. Another relative, Ali Baydoun, was placed on three years of supervised release in April.

Attorneys are asking a judge to drop one of the two charges against a man who is accused of stabbing a police officer at a Michigan airport. Amor Ftouhi  is a native of Tunisia who lives in Canada. He's accused of stabbing an officer in the neck at Flint's Bishop International Airport last June while yelling "Allahu Akbar," the Arabic phrase for "God is great." 

A second bank robbery in Grand Rapids in the past four days has police on the hunt for a suspect. The bank robbery took place at Macatawa Bank on Burton Street near the Brenton Village Shopping Center around noon on Tuesday.

Witnesses describe the suspect as being a white male in his 50's, at least 6' tall and having a thin build. He was wearing a winter hat, a tan jacket, dark jeans, and dark shoes. He entered the bank alone and presented a note to the teller.

Authorities say a 13-year-old girl has been arrested following an online threat against a middle school in southeastern Michigan. The Monroe County sheriff's office says a message posted online Friday threatened gun violence this week at Jefferson Middle School in the Monroe area.

The department says the girl is being held at the Monroe County Youth Center, pending formal charges of making terroristic threats toward a school facility.

Investigators determined, however, that the girl didn't have the means to carry out the threat.

A northern Michigan woman has been charged with murder in the death of her second infant in five years. The Grand Rapids Press reports 32-year-old Lisa Rae Bryan faces charges of second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and obstruction of justice. The Emmet County woman is charged in the November 2016 death of her infant daughter, Isabella Powrozek.

The majority of Michigan voters say fixing the state’s infrastructure is the number one problem lawmakers need to address. That is the finding in a recent poll conducted in December.

Fix MI State is a campaign organized by the Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association. It asked Lansing-based Epic-MRA to survey 600 registered Michigan voters asking what they think is the top problem facing the state?

A 41-year-old woman has been convicted in connection with a sex-trafficking ring that authorities said involved underage girls. An Ingham County Circuit Court jury found Amber Speed guilty Friday of conducting a criminal enterprise. Speed was arrested after state police found online ads for an escort operation. Michigan's Attorney General's office says girls involved in the escort operation were minors when they were brought into the ring.

Authorities say two people were found dead following a fire in northern Indiana. Crews responded early Sunday to a 911 call reporting a fire in Elkhart County, near Goshen. Crews from four departments worked to extinguish the blaze. The Concord Township Fire Department says one person from the home was safe after the fire. Names of the dead weren't immediately released.

Cause of death was expected to be announced following autopsies scheduled for Monday in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Police say a 10-year-old boy was badly wounded when hit by gunfire in a possible drive-by shooting in Flint. City police say the boy was hospitalized in critical condition from the wounds he suffered while inside the home about 10 p.m. Monday.

Flint police continued working Tuesday to identify those involved in the shooting and a possible vehicle.

Michigan State Police said it was believed to be a drive-by shooting.
