A city in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has created a new fund to grow and leverage money for public art. 

The Marquette City Commission unanimously passed the new public art policy in recent weeks. The policy establishes the Public Art Fund and an official oversight body. The seven-member Marquette Public Art Commission will administer an annual contribution of $30,000 from the city's general fund to be put toward commissioning, purchasing and maintaining public art in the city.

University presidents from across the state, including Grand Valley State University, are lobbying against the income tax cut plan.

The leaders of Michigan's 15 public universities are lobbying against an income tax cut they worry would lead to state funding cuts.

While the House has altered the income tax cut and roll back bill. The legislation would now cut the tax down to 3.9 percent by 2021 and then go no further.
