Underprivileged youth in the community have significantly more access to recreation programs thanks to Indian Trails Golf Tournament players, sponsors and volunteers. The recent two-person scramble event at the historic and refreshed 87-year-old Indian Trails Golf Course generated more than 20-thousand dollars for the Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund.

“We have an opportunity to provide even more scholarship dollars to even more youth in the city as a result of the proceeds received from the grand re opening of the Indian Trails golf course.”

Officials consider upgrades at Grand Rapids golf course

Grand Rapids officials are considering spending $2.8 million to spruce up city-owned Indian Trails Golf Course.
The Grand Rapids City Commission is set to consider the proposal Tuesday. It would add a driving range and practice green while also upgrading irrigation, cart paths and the clubhouse.
The Grand Rapids Press  reports funding would come from a 2010 income tax increase. Course manager Lance Climie says the driving range would provide revenue to address future maintenance issues.
