Springstead is a Muskegon native and Army Veteran who is heavily involved in his neighborhood association. WGVU’s asked him 3 questions.

City of Muskegon employees who buy a house within city limits may qualify for financial incentives under a new proposal.

The Employee Homeownership Program, if approved by city officials, would offer an up-to $500 matching down payment.

It would also provide forgivable matching loans, depending on neighborhood and other factors.

An overall up-to $5,000 match would be available.

Officials say it’s one piece of larger and ongoing neighborhood stabilization and blight elimination efforts.
