Testing by environmental authorities gears up this month after the discovery of chemical vapors closed a southeast Grand Rapids structure.
The vapors are attributed to a former dry cleaning business that operated at the site until 1995.
Betsy Nightingale is an on-scene coordinator with the EPA. She tells WGVU what’s going on at the site, starting with the neighborhood assessment, and what residents should expect.
The EPA holds a community open house on Thursday, June 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1168 Madison Ave. SE. Public office hours will be held on Tuesdays in June from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
An EPA representative says residents are also able to stop by the site to speak with officials during the process.
