A former girls' softball coach charged in connection with a sexual assault on a 13-year-old who was on his western Michigan team in 2012 has been ordered to stand trial.
Additional charges also were filed Tuesday against 44-year-old Thomas Galloway at his preliminary examination in a Grand Haven courtroom.
Galloway is scheduled to be arraigned April 25 in circuit court on four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Authorities have said charges were brought after the girl, now 17, told a parent.
Defense Attorney David Zessin said in court Tuesday that the girl's story was inconsistent and had conflicting details.
Galloway was the founder of a group of traveling softball teams, and a coach until his recent resignation.
A judge ordered him to stay away from the team's Allendale facility.
