A Michigan Historic Preservationist has announced his candidacy for the United States Senate. Bob Carr, who ran for Congress in 1996, says the decision to run for Senate came after a drive across the cross-state Red Arrow Highway, and seeing the condition of struggling communities that were scattered across Michigan.
“Getting the little towns all over Michigan back up and running again. That is what is important to me,” Carr told WGVU.
Carr says he promises that he would use his experience to “create positive action and not leave any city or community left behind,” according to a press release.
Carr a Republican, won the Republican primary for the 1st Congressional District in 1996, one of the largest districts in the Midwest. He joins an already crowded group of candidates running for the United States Senate in Michigan including Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie. According to a recent poll, Ritchie is currently the Republican front runner.
