Parade sending in the clowns to greet travelers at airport

Organizers of Detroit's Thanksgiving Day parade are sending in the clowns to Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

The Parade Co. says in a release that members of the Distinguished Clown Corps will welcome travelers on Wednesday. They'll distribute beads to people arriving at the airport in the Detroit suburb of Romulus.

The DCC, as the council of clowns is known, has been part of the downtown Detroit parade for 32 years. This year's 180-member corps of costumed corporate and community leaders is led by Luther "Skip" Rosemond, a Detroit chiropractor and 2015 Distinguished Grand Jester.

Actor Tim Allen will serve as grand marshal for Thursday parade, formally known as the 89th annual America's Thanksgiving Parade.
