A study released this week by the Michigan League for Public Policy concluded that while infant death numbers are down in the state of Michigan, African American infants have a death rate that’s twice as high as white infants. And Strong Beginnings in Grand Rapids is tackling the issue head on.

Emergency crews turned out in force to help deliver twin boys in a bathroom at a Lansing home. 

Lansing Fire Department spokesman Steve Mazurek, who responded to the call Monday night, tells the Lansing State Journal ( ) it was "very, very chaotic for a little bit, but it worked out phenomenally." Mazurek says the mother and babies are doing well.

Mercy Health St. Mary's now provides free sleep sacks to every baby born in the hospital. The goal is to prevent infant death. Clinical Nurse Manager Linda Foster joins us to share the details.
