Former Michigan State basketball player Keith Appling is expected to serve jail time after pleading guilty to carrying a concealed weapon and resisting police charges.

Appling's plea was accepted Monday in Wayne County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say it includes a sentence agreement of five years' probation with the first year being served in the Wayne County Jail.

The agreement does not include early release. Sentencing will be held Aug. 3.

The 24-year-old Appling played for Michigan State from 2010-2014 and had two brief contracts with the Orlando Magic.

The Grand Rapids Griffins unveiled a new logo outside of Van Andel arena on Monday celebrating their 2017 Calder Cup Championship. The unveiling came after hundreds packed Rosa Parks Circle Friday afternoon for a championship rally and the chance to cheer on the Griffins one last time this season. As the team took the stage following a parade through the city, Griffins owner Dan DeVos addressed the crowd. 

“First and foremost of course I would like to congratulate the team, on an amazing victory, an amazing year,” Devos said.

Another successful year in Grand Valley State University Athletics has the Lakers poised to win their fourth straight All-Sports Director's Cup. Earlier in the week D.J. Foster interviewed first year Athletic Director Keri Becker on the tremendous 2016-17 campaign.

The Grand Valley State University Men's Golf team has used its depth to win two straight tournaments.  This week it will compete for the GLIAC championship in Nashport, Ohio.   Head coach Gary Bissell joins us for a closer look at the team.

Grand Valley State University Swimming & Diving teams competed in the 2017 NCAA Division II Finals held in Birmingham, Alabama.

Sophomore diver Brad Dalrymple was the surprise 1 meter diving board champion last year and has competition from his own team to defend the championship. In Birmingham, Dalrymple claimed the NCAA Division II National Championship on the 3 meter diving board and was named the 2017 Men's Diver of the Year.

GVSU men finished 5th and the Laker women came in 11th place at the NCAA Championships.
