Rep. Justin Amash on guns, PFAS and North Korea

United States Representative Justin Amash hosted a town hall last evening in Caledonia, answering a number of questions from his constituents in the 3rd Ward.

Prior to the event, Amash sat down with WGVU’s Daniel Boothe and shared his thoughts on stricter gun laws, contaminated water in West Michigan, and President Donald Trump’s handling of North Korea.

Prior to hosting a town hall Thursday evening at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, I sat down with Representative Justin Amash and asked him these questions: 

Do you support President Donald Trump's corporate tax cut plan? 

Rep. Amash: “Corporate taxes should be cut, individual taxes should be cut, our current tax code has a lot of corporate welfare in it, where some companies get a lot of benefits, and other companies don’t, so we should try to level the playing field and keep taxes low for as many people as possible.”

U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga hosts town hall in Muskegon

U.S. Representative Bill Huizenga hosted a town hall Wednesday evening in Muskegon, answering a number of questions from a somewhat contentious crowd. Addressing a mostly full auditorium at Orchard View High School, Congressman Bill Huizenga answered a number of questions for roughly an hour and half. The majority of the questions focused mainly on Huizenga’s support of repealing the Affordable Care Act, and his support of President Donald Trump on a number of issues.

What is the best way to provide the highest quality and affordable health care to Americans? That was one of the questions posed by Kent County Democrats during a town hall meeting.

The Kent County Democratic Party hosted a town hall meeting at Grand Rapids’ Fountain Street Church Wednesday evening hosted by State Representative Winnie Brinks.

A local emergency room Doctor has announced his candidacy for Congress in Michigan's 2nd District. Dr. Robert Davidson, an emergency room doctor for 16 years in West Michigan, will be hoping to win the seat currently held by Representative Bill Huizenga. Davidson says he didn’t have political aspirations until he attended a town hall hosted by Huizenga, but it was there that he and the Congressman would get into a lengthy debate in front of a packed audience about Trump’s American Health Care Act.

U.S. Representative Justin Amash is home this week visiting Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District. He’s hosting a town hall meeting tonight in Battle Creek. Last night the Cascade Township republican held a public forum at Grand Rapid’s Ottawa Hills High School auditorium. Before the event began, WGVU sat down for a one-on-one interview with Congressman Amash discussing health care and how he approaches his constituents attending what have lately become heated town hall meetings.

For the third day in row, Michigan Representative Justin Amash hosted a town hall Wednesday evening in West Michigan, the latest taking place at the Van Singel Arts Center at Bryon Center's High School. Before fielding questions from the audience, Amash began the evening by addressing his concern over President Donald Trump authorizing a military strike on a Syrian government airbase in response to a chemical weapons attack allegedly orchestrated by Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.

Michigan Representative Bill Huizenga hosted a Town Hall on Facebook Live Wednesday evening, as residents from the 2nd District posted questions to the social media website. Streaming from Washington D.C., Huizenga began his online Town Hall by immediately addressing critics, angered over his support of President Donald Trump’s health care bill.

Rep. Amash hosts town hall in Battle Creek

As town halls have sprung up all over the country, Michigan Representative Justin Amash held his own town hall in Battle Creek Thursday afternoon. 

“We have a very good country here with a very good system. And I understand we have disagreements; especially after this election,” Amash said.

Amash town hall turns into shouting match

US Representative Justin Amash addressed critics and supporters Thursday night as the congressman held a town hall in Grand Rapids. Amash began by saying he thinks there should be town halls happening across the nation.  

“Alright so I’m Congressman Amash, and, I think it is critical that members of congress hold in person town halls like this,“ Amash said.
